Abstract

This issue of Ethnologia Fennica is centered on daily life in national parks in Europe and on the varied actors, relationships, activities, and strategies that shape the cultural specificity of the everyday as a social and cultural process. The inspiration for this issue was the panel organized for the SIEF biannual international conference (Société Internationale d´Ethnologie et de Folklore - International Society for Ethnology and Folklore) held in 2013 in Tartu, Estonia. The panel, organized by Jurij Fikfak and Tatiana Bajuk Senčar, was titled “Structures of daily life in national parks: between theory and practice,” and presenters shed light on the culturally significant issues that shape daily life in a number of parks across Europe.
