Abstract

ln this article I will look at ethnological and related historical research with a focus on everyday life in harbours. My aim is to look at theoretical ideas and the shadows of ideologies that can be found in them. I will bring together harbour research with some ideas and theories from gender studies. ldeas and ideologies have influenced not only the research subject, everyday life, but also the thoughts of researchers and the outcome of the studies. ln this article my primary source is previous research, not the interviews that are the main source of my own ongoing study.
