Previous studies have for example tried to identify health risks and risk factors, to evaluate medications and to evaluate the results received from different sensors. The objective of this integrative review was to describe how artificial intelligence has been used in health care to identify or predict health risks and risk factors. The aim of this review was to provide more information about how artificial intelligence can be used in preventive health care, and in occupational health care. Searches for recent literature were conducted in scientific databases following the principles of integrative review.

According to this integrative review, artificial intelligence has been used to identify different health risks and risk factors by using structured and unstructured data from the electronic medical records and other applications used in health care. The methods of the models used to identify or to predict the health risks or risk factors vary. Evaluation of the different methods used in the models is difficult, but generally the results have been promising and clearly indicate that artificial intelligence can be used to identify and predict health risks and risk factors.

Artificial intelligence provides new methods for the use of health care. Different models of identifying and predicting health risks and risk factors can promote the development of preventive health care. However, more research is needed to evaluate the different models. Also, the new methods raise the need for ethical discussion of the use of artificial intelligence to identify and predict health risks and risk factors and how information obtained can be used.
ER -
