Finnish Journal of Linguistics is a refereed general linguistic journal published on an annual basis. It contains previously unpublished, original articles, short essays or so-called "squibs" and book reviews. Finnish Journal of Linguistics welcomes papers on all aspects of linguistic research. Every article is refereed by at least two anonymous referees, after which the editors make the final decision of publication. The languages of publication are English, French, German, Finnish, and Swedish. Manuscripts may be submitted throughout the year, but the deadline for each year’s issue is 31 January.
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. The journal's publishing procedure can be seen here. In all its publishing acts Fin JoL engages and pursues to advance the policy of Finnish Advisory Board on Research Integrity (TENK) and the policy of Finnish Association for Scholarly Publishing (Suomen tiedekustantajien liitto) concerning peer review instructions. Fin JoL is also obliged to store relevant documents during the publishing process (e.g. manuscript versions, review statements, publication decisions and agreements) to its own database.
Finnish Journal of Linguistics has implemented the label for peer-reviewed scholarly publications of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies and is committed to follow the guidelines for the mark. More information available here.
During 2018 and 2019, The Linguistic Association of Finland has digitalized its previous journals for open access. This concerns publications between 1988–2003 (Vol. 1–16). Via the links below you have access to the papers whose authors have explicitely allowed their online publication. These digitalized papers are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). If you are the author but your paper is not available online, and you would like to have it available on this site, please, fill the permission form and send it to sky-journal [at] helsinki.fi
The digitization work has been financially supported by Suomen tiedekustantajien liitto (the Finnish Association for Scholarly Publishing) and by Kopiosto.
