Abstrakti

Ageing population is challenging Finland’s health care systems. There is an urgent need to develop new operational practices and health care resource efficiency. Technology-assisted services are regarded as one of the key solutions. However, evaluation is needed in order to show how effective technologies really are and how they create value. Technology assessment models have been proposed in the literature, but there is a lack of models to measure and manage the overall cost-effectiveness of the new technology. This article introduces a model which was tested in elderly home care. The model was derived from the literature, followed a series of workshops and interviews to identify the critical indicators to produce information to react and support decision making, for forecasting and to modify the health care services in changing situations.
