Abstrakti

Inter- or transdisciplinary collaboration is a form of collaboration that crosses disciplinary, professional and organizational boundaries. However, the interpretation of the concept varies significantly between different organizations, which has led to varying practices. This study examines how different ways of talking about transdisciplinary collaboration build reality and practices in public sector organizations. The e-survey data was from employees working in early childhood education, preschool and primary education in public sector in Finland (n = 2787). As a result of discourse analysis of open-ended questions, transdisciplinary collaboration is structured mainly as an activity between employees, leaving for the family and child a role as the target of collaboration. Our research aims to bring a complementary perspective to the conceptual discussion about multi-, inter- and transdisciplinary collaboration in Finland, which still needs structuring and refinement, especially in terms of concrete methods of operation and joint goal determination.
