The Development of Knowledge Management Capabilities in Social and Healthcare: A Case Study
Knowledge-based decision-making is essential for the effective delivery of social and healthcare services and has recently attracted increasing attention in their management. However, existing research has largely focused on technical data issues, often overlooking the organizational capabilities necessary for effective application of knowledge. To address this gap, we conducted a case study examining the development of knowledge application capabilities of a newly established wellbeing services county in Finland. The findings draw attention to the organization and legitimization of knowledge management services and identify factors that support the development of knowledge management capabilities in terms of strategy, processes, and resources. The results contribute to the current understanding of organizing knowledge management in social and healthcare, as well as the capabilities associated with it.
