Do we still need the categorisation of legal disciplines?
Our legal system has traditionally been categorised into various legal disciplines. During the 2000s, also new fields have been developed. The reasons for this are societal change, juridification of society, internationalisation of sources of law and the fact that legal problems are often located at the interfaces of several disciplines. The author proposes that we still need categorisation of legal disciplines and that the new fields of law include communications law and sports law. In this way, legal problems can be looked at from a broad enough perspective and considering all things. The new fields have also an important function as contexts for the development of general principles and concepts in the field in question.
