Abstract

The Bagmati River is holy to the inhabitants of the Kathmandu Valley. Due to
population growth and rapid urbanization, the river is under increasing pressure.
The water quality of the Bagmati River in the valley is chemically and biologically
so degraded that it cannot be used for any purpose, especially during the dry
seasons (from March to May).
