Foreword No 3-4 (2025)
Abstract
Dear Readers,
As 2025 draws to a close, we reflect on an exciting year for the tribology community. The past twelve months have demonstrated how tribology continues to play a critical role in advancing sustainable technologies, improving energy efficiency, and enabling innovations across industries.
This year, Tribologia – Finnish Journal of Tribology published 10 research articles covering topics from advanced lubrication strategies to surface engineering for extreme environments. We were proud to feature contributions from both established experts and emerging researchers, highlighting the diversity and strength of our field.
We are delighted to announce that the 21st Nordic Symposium on Tribology (NordTrib 2026) will be held from 9 to 12 June 2026 at Tampere University’s city centre campus in Tampere, Finland. This biennial event—organized by Tampere University in collaboration with the Finnish Society for Tribology—offers a premier platform for presenting cutting-edge research and fostering collaboration across the academic and industrial tribology sectors.
Looking ahead to 2026, we anticipate exciting developments in areas such as green tribology, smart materials, and digital simulation methods. We invite you to continue submitting your research and engaging with the journal as we work together to shape the future of tribology.
On behalf of the editorial team, we extend our heartfelt thanks for your support during this past year. We wish all our readers, authors, reviewers, and colleagues a joyful end of year and an inspiring start to 2026—may it be a year marked by collaboration, breakthrough discoveries, and sustainable impact in tribology.
With best regards,
Vuokko Marjamaa
Editor-in-Chief, Tribologia – Finnish Journal of Tribology
