The article provides an overview of the realization of a Mansi language textbook and challenges involved in the editorial process. The textbook is designed for second language learners, primarily European university students. Mansi is a severely endangered Uralic language spoken in Western Siberia. Although the Mansi language is taught to native speakers in schools and universities to some extent, it is not utilized as the language of instruction. The existing teaching materials are intended for native speakers and reflect old Soviet-style pedagogy. Through this project, we have developed a modern-style textbook based on contemporary Western pedagogy for use in university teaching.
