Baby Steps of British Operational Art: Comparing Fuller and Liddell Hart. This article compares the theories of J.F.C. Fuller and B.H. Liddell Hart to determine their impact and influence of the development process of operational art in general and especially its British version. Their thinking strongly influenced both Russian and German theorists who are commonly credited for creating operational level doctrines thus giving birth to operational art as a concept. This article presents some of the essentials Fuller and Liddell Hart considered to be the foundation of the grand tactical or operational level of the art of war and illustrates their influence.
