Finnish Journal of eHealth and eWelfare (FinJeHeW) is a scientific journal established by the Finnish Social and Health Informatics Association (FinnSHIA) and the Finnish Society of Telemedicine and eHealth (FSTeH).

Focus and Scope

The aim of the Journal is to promote scientific research, communication and education in the fields of information and communication technology relating to social and health care, telemedicine, eHealth and eWelbeing.

FinJeHeW contains editorials, review articles, full text articles, brief reports, conference reports and lectio praecursorias in Finnish, Swedish and English. Finnish articles should preferably include an English abstract. Submission of a manuscript is understood to imply that it has not been published (except in abstract form) and is not being considered for publication elsewhere.

Peer Review

All submitted manuscripts are evaluated by the editor. Manuscripts that are considered suitable for publication in the Journal are sent to two referees for assessment. The review process is a double-blind process for research articles. Editor-in-charge assigned to handle a paper knows the identity of the authors and outsider reviewers. Reviewers are post-doctoral researchers, or other experts in the scientific field. Reviewers are not involved in manuscript's creation. A structured form is used in review process. For manuscripts afforded review, authors can expect a decision within three months of manuscript submission.

Publication Frequency

The Journal is published in electronic form and includes four issues per year. Journal items are published collectively, as part of an issue with its own Table of Contents.

Open Access

The contents of this journal will be available in an open access format starting from autumn 2017. Before the journal was published with delayed open access, the content was openly available 3 months after each issue was published.
