FMSERA Journal is a double-blind, peer-reviewed journal of the Finnish Mathematics and Science Education Research Association, FMSERA. The manuscripts are reviewed by at least two independent reviewers who are PhD level reseachers or other experts in the field. Members of the editorial team of the annual journal do not participate in the review process. The peer-review is conducted in line with the quality and ethical criteria imposed by the academic community and according to the recommendations of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies.
The Finnish Mathematics and Science Education Research Association (FMSERA) was formed at the national symposium on Research in Mathematics Education held in Turku, in August 1983. Correspondingly, first national symposium on Research in Science Education was organised in Oulu, in November 1984. First common symposium in the field of science and mathematics education research was organised in Jyväskylä in September 1987. Thereafter, annual symposiums have been organised together with researchers with interest in science or mathematics education research.
The aims of FMSERA are to promote collaboration in mathematics and science education research between researchers in Finland as well as to strengthen links between researchers in Europe and similar communities elsewhere in the world and, furthermore to publish research papers. FMSERA provides a forum for discussion about practices and policies of mathematics and science education researchers and to relate research to the policy and practice of science education.
FMSERA Journal annually publishes 1-2 numbers. The presenters of annual FMSERA symposiums are invited to submit a paper based on their presentation. Besides, manusripts related to science and mathematics education research are mostly welcome. Since January 1st 2016, all papers published in FMSERA Journal are double-blind peer-reviewed and licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.
