About the Journal

VAKKI Publications focuses on language, discourse and communication in professional settings. Each year, the theme of the journal issue corresponds to that of the annual VAKKI Symposium, and the presenters of the symposium are welcome to submit a full paper corresponding to their presentation. VAKKI Publications is multilingual; articles may be written in Finnish, Swedish, English, or German.

The articles are peer-reviewed in a double blind process. We expect that manuscripts state the aim, theoretical background, data and method (for empirical papers), findings and conclusions. Manuscripts that have already been published will not be accepted.

VAKKI Publications is an open access journal and it is rated level 1 in the Finnish Publication Forum. In addition, the journal is indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

Peer review policy

Article manuscripts will be selected for publication through a double-blind peer review process, which means that both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from each other throughout the review process. The journal has a pool of qualified referees from institutions of higher education.

In addition to peer reviewed articles, the journal publishes editorial introductions and plenary talks by invited speakers of the VAKKI Symposium. Other formats may be suggested to the Editor-in-Chief.

Editorial board and editors

The editorial board of VAKKI Publications consists of members of the executive board of the VAKKI Communication Research Association. The Editor-in-Chief is a member of the editorial board and supervises the editorial team in the case there is one or more associate editors.

The author may publish the article as part of her/his thesis, even if the thesis is an online version. If necessary, submitted and accepted versions of manuscripts may form parts of doctoral theses.
