Aulikki Herneoja
University Lecturer Aulikki Herneoja DSc (Tech), MSc (Arch), Architect SAFA is Vice Research Unit Leader at the Oulu School of Architecture at the Faculty of Technology and the Chair of Technology and Natural Sciences Doctoral Programme Committee at the University of Oulu Graduate School. She is an architect with a background in practical design work, i.a., designing and managing large informative exhibitions. Her research interest is in the methodological approach of combining practical design knowledge with academic knowledge of architecture, especially in the real-world context conducted intervention-based research within an interdisciplinary research group. Technology is involved in her research projects in multiple layers, both as means of research and in applied solutions for practice. She has led major research projects since 2011, the most recent concerning spatial solution of activity-based offices for knowledge workers from a user-centric approach.

Panu Lehtovuori
Panu Lehtovuori is the Professor of Planning Theory at Tampere University, School of Architecture. Before the current position, he was the Professor of Urban Studies at the Estonian Academy of Arts in Tallinn. Lehtovuori’s research is based on critical urban theory. His interests focus on public urban space, temporary uses and other contemporary forms of urban agency, conceptual design approaches and transformative view on the sustainability of the built environment. Lehtovuori is partner at SPIN Unit, an international R&D initiative for radical urban transformation, and at Nordic Urbanism, a start-up in continued professional education.
Markku Norvasuo
Pekka Passinmäki
Pekka Passinmäki is an architect, philosopher and university lecturer at Tampere University, School of Architecture, where he teaches theory and philosophy of architecture. His education consists of a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Architecture and Ph.Lic. and M.A. in Philosophy. He is the author of A New Poetics of Architecture: A Phenomenological Study of the Possibility of Overcoming Technology in Contemporary Architecture (2011, in Finnish) and co-editor of Understanding and Designing Place – Considerations on Architecture and Philosophy (2019) with Klaske Havik.
Panu Savolainen
Panu Savolainen is an architect and historian and professor (tenure track) of history of architecture and architectural conservation at Aalto University (Helsinki, Finland). He earned his MA in Architecture from Helsinki University of Techonology, MA in archaeology and history from University of Turku and PhD in history from University of Turku. He is currently specializing in medieval archaeology and 20th century suburbs but his earlier research has focused on 18th and 19th century urban history. Savolainen has authored seven books, including a children’s book, and ca. 40 scholarly articles. He has also worked as a practicing architect, including housing design, urban planning and ruin conservation.
