A Quest for the Concept of Folk and the Essence of Folk Attire
Abstract
The sixth Finnish-Hungarian Ethnological Symposium was held in the small and idyllic southern Hungarian town of Pécsvárad August 18-24, 1997. Joint organisation of these symposia began in 1984, since when they have been held alternately in each country. This time it was to a modem conference hotel, situated in Pécsvárad's medieval castle and monastery, that ethnologists came from both Hungary and Finland. The organisers were the Hungarian Ethnographical Society, and the guests were representatives of the Association of Finnish Ethnologists, Ethnos.
