Abstrakti

This article deals with onomastics of Mari origin in the area of Mishkinski, Bashkiria. It studies systematically the syntactico-semantic features of the onomasticon. The onomasticon is classified according to the basic principles of name giving and the lexical semantics of modifying elements. Further, it provides an overview of the most commonly occurring modifying elements. The proportion of loan names and opaque names in the Mari onomasticon is calculated.
