Call for Editors-in-Chief for Ethnologia Fennica

Ethnologia Fennica, a journal of European ethnology published by the Association of Finnish Ethnologists (Ethnos ry) is looking for new Editors-in-Chief for the next 3-year period (2025–2027).

Ethnologia Fennica is an English language online journal that publishes original scholarly articles, review articles, congress reports and book reviews that promote ethnological research. The articles undergo double-blind peer review. The journal is published twice a year, each volume featuring 3-5 articles. For more information: https://journal.fi/ethnolfenn

The qualifications for the Editor-in-Chief of Ethnologia Fennica include the following:

  • PhD degree in European Ethnology
  • Good knowledge of ethnological research and networks in the field
  • Good communication skills in both Finnish and English
  • Knowledge and skills in scientific communication
  • Experience of writing and editing of peer reviewed articles
  • Ability to use journal.fi portal

The main tasks of the Editor-in-Chief include:

  • Managing the editorial process
  • Directing the editorial team in scientific communication
  • Developing the journal

The Editors-in-Chief are appointed for a period of three years. The task offers valuable academic merits and a unique view to the contemporary ethnological research and international scholarly publishing.

Written applications (one page) should indicate how the candidate plans to develop the journal. The application and a CV that includes a list of publications (max. 2 pages) can be sent to EF(at)ethnos.org no later than 30.9.2024

The Editors-in-Chief are chosen and appointed by Ethnos ry.
