  Ethnologia Fennica, a journal published by the Association of Finnish Ethnologists (Ethnos ry) is looking for three new Editors and two new Subeditors for the next 3-year period (2026-2029). Ethnologia Fennica is an international journal that publishes original scholarly articles, review articles, congress reports and book reviews that promote Ethnological research. The articles undergo double-blind peer review. The journal is published twice a year with full open access. For more information, see: https://journal.fi/ethnolfenn.

• Call for Papers: Ethnological and Cultural Approaches to Nature

  Nature - its meanings, materialities, and effects on human life - has become an important focus of interest within ethnology and related disciplines. For Ethnologia Fennica issue 1/27, we invite original research articles that explore nature from diverse perspectives. We particularly welcome contributions that engage with environmental affect, nature experiences, nature connectedness, and culturally embedded nature practices.

• Call for book reviews and conference reports

  Ethnologia Fennica invites book reviews and conference reports from scholars working in ethnology and related fields. We publish reviews and reports in English and ask authors to keep their texts to a maximum of 1,500 words. We maintain a list of suggested books below. We also welcome suggestions from contributors.

• CfP Ethnologia Fennica 1/2026: Words and Concepts

  In this call for papers, we invite researchers to reflect on conceptual work in their studies. We call for research and review articles that explore the choices and practices of finding, defining and using concepts. We are also interested in examples of how creative writing practices can enhance the research process or the communication of its results.

  Please submit your article abstracts by June 23^rd. The issue will be published in June 2026.

• Call for Book Reviews and Conference Reports

  Ethnologia Fennica welcomes book reviews and conference reports from scholars interested in ethnology and related fields. The reviews and the reports should be in English and they should not exceed 1500 words. The deadline for submitting the book reviews and reports is August 31st 2025 and they will be published at the earliest in the issue 2/2025. You can find the list for suggested books below.
