About the Journal

The journal has been published since 1982 (and by the name Futura since 1986), and now comes out in B5 format four times a year.

The editorial board of Futura welcomes manuscript also outside of the issue-specific topics. The aim is to publish multidisciplinary articles, commentaries, and book reviews related to futures research and foresight. Futura promotes conversation and dialogue, so also personal views are welcomed. The journal also has a referee process.

The Open Access of Futura will be increased when funding makes it possible. At the moment, Futura articles are available digitally through the Elektra-service (issues until 4/2021). Using the Elektra platform requires an organisational license. The Elektra service will shut down by the end of 2022, after which Futura will move to Journal.fi. The newest issues are available digitally (non-Open Access) through Lehtiluukku. The printed Futura are sent to subscribers as well as the members of the Finnish Society for Futures Studies, and individual copies can also be ordered at tutuseura@gmail.com.

Futura has received financial support from the Ministry of Education and Culture through the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies.
