Abstract

Skills function as foundation of human action competence. Just similarly mathematical skills function as foundation of mathematical competence. So, it is extraordinary important to specify the character of mathematical skills. However, in the analysis of mathematical skills we face also mathematical knowledge. Mathematical skills and mathematical knowledge meet each other in mathematical practise. Mathematical practise can be specified only if the basic factors of the practise are given which are persons participating into it, environment, and the mathematical topic under study. In general, it is possible to characterize general logic of mathematical problem solving which is the method of analysis and synthesis. Concrete examples help to construct practises. In the article, the examples of Plato’s Meno and “satataulu” are considered. These show how one can construct fruitful mathematical dialog at the pre-primary education.
