In this article, the author examines the topic of Jewish art. Jewish art has certain characteristics determined by Jewish ritual and tradition. In this sense, it is motivated to speak of a collective form of art of religious, Jewish character. This kind of art is found, for example, in the ornamentation of the synagogues, in ritual objects and in medieval manuscripts. Jewish art has been flourishing when Judaism has been on safe grounds in society. Jewish art has not always been pursued by Jews only. At the same time, all art pursued by Jews cannot be considered Jewish art.Referera så här
