Sarana in Eurasian folk botany

This article tries to identify which species are included under the plant name sarana in northern Eurasia, and to some extent, in northern America. It discusses how the plants have been gathered and used, and the significance of sarana in the nutrition, traditions and economy of peoples in Eurasia and the Pacific area. The article is an ethnobiological contribution to the understanding of the complex activity context between humans and plants.
