Abstrakti
The problem of equivalence in comparative
research.
Comparisons are one of promising ways of
producing empirical and theoretical findings.
The key element is that comparativist is able to
establish a valid comparative setting and
achieve relevant criterions between issues to be
compared. The article deals with comparative
methodology, especially the problems of
equivalence. The discussion focuses on three
forms of equivalence which are conceptual,
functional, and structural equivalence. In
addition, several suggestions that a
comparativist should consider in selecting the
form of equivalence in his/her comparative study
are proposed.
