THE CONCEPTUALISATION OF MANAGEMENT
AS MANAGERIAL SOCIAL MOVEMENTS:
POTENTIALS AND IMPLICATIONS FOR
MANAGEMENT RESEARCH
The concepts and approaches developed in
sociologically and social psychologically oriented
research on social movements have large potential
in the study of managerial agency and organisational
change. ln this paper the main advancements in the
literature of social movements and its proposed
applications to management research are discussed.
ln addition the yet unrealized potential of the social
movements approach to management in empirical
research settings is evaluated.
