UTILIZATION OF YOUTH RESEARCH

A discussion of the ways in which, as a result
of the close linkage of youth research and youth
policy planning, youth research becomes the object of administrative directives as reflected in
the choice of research topics and the use made
of research in the administrative and political
decision-making process.
The general development of topic areas of
research and youth research outlined in the
article leads to the conclusion that there has
been a decline in academic research and the
prediction that there will be a further increase in
the amount of youth research carried out in administrative circles that focuses on practical
questions such as the problems of work, unemployment and health: the symbolic or political
utilization of research lmplies that the political
decision-making process selects the research it
finds suitable to its political purposes.
