Mikael's principles of open access

Mikael is a non-profit scholarly journal that can be openly accessed on the Internet. The articles are published at no expense to the authors, and the authors receive neither remuneration nor royalties. 

The articles published in Mikael can be used in accordance with the CC-BY-NC license. The authors retain the right to upload and re-distribute their published articles through other open access channels and repositories as long as the original journal is duly credited. The authors also retain the right to self-archive their article in accordance with a different CC license (e.g. CC BY, CC BY-SA, CC BY-ND, CC BY-NC-ND) in order to comply with the requirements set by the funders of their research. Similarly, anyone can openly copy, distribute and display the articles published in Mikael as long as this happens for noncommercial purposes, and the original author and journal are given due credit. 

Authors are not allowed to distribute or self-archive a pre-print of a manuscript submitted to Mikael as long as the review and/or editorial process is in progress. 

The metadata of the articles can be used in accordance with the CC0 license.

Mikael is a foundational member of the Council of Editors of Translation and Interpreting Studies for Open Science (est. 2021).
