Forum Marinumin ajankohtaiset hankkeet, näyttelyt ja tapahtumat
Abstrakti
Trafiikki Museot, the network of Finnish traffic history museums, has prepared a group of exhibitions on Finnish postwar history of mobility from a variety of angles. The topics are also available on the Internet through the purpose built app. Forum Marinum has decided to approach the topic through maritime engine building and naval history, both locally important fields in Southwestern Finland. The long-serving naval auxiliary and mine clearing vessel Wilhelm Carpelan has been repaired and added to the museum fleet. The ship was launched for the Imperial Russian Baltic Navy from the Helsinki shipyard Kone- ja Siltarakennus in 1915 and was in naval use until 1970. The museum is currently involved in collecting the history of marine diesel engine manufacture at the Wärtsilä Turku factory, a key industry in Finnish maritime engineering during the lat-ter part of the 20th century. Finally, Forum Marinum, The Finnish War Museum and the Uusimaa Brigade have agreed on the exhibition and maintenance of Örö heritage 12-inch guns. The museum will develop tours to these coastal batteries.Viittaaminen
