Historical understanding for engineering - for the future

Abstract

The Finnish engineering education lacks historical understanding. This article approches the teaching of history of technology as a part of engineering education from historical perspective, evaluates the role of humanities in technological universities based on international and domestic examples, and discusses the problems and opportunities of  a broad curriculum.
