Paluu Pohjoiseen, itsensä kohtaaminen

Roland Barthesin punctum-käsitteen innoittamana tarkastelen yli kaksikymmentä vuotta sitten Samu Pehkosen kanssa kirjoittamaamme tekstiä Pohjoisesta. Etsin sekä kirjoituksemme jatkuvaa relevanssia että kätkettyjä tai mahdollisia merkityksiä tiedostaen, että tekstit ovat aina kehkeytyviä, aina prosessissa uudelleen muotoutuvia. Havaitsen punctumin käyttämämme ilmaisun ”jossakin määrin” toisteisuudessa, mikä tunnistaa mittaamisen ongelmat ja viittaa pikemminkin Pohjoisen kompleksisuuteen kuin sen ottamiseen itsestäänselvyytenä. Löydän punctumin myös jokapäiväisestä, arjen Pohjoisesta (engl. everyday North), mikä ei ilmene niinkään eksplisiittisenä, vaan pikemminkin kipinänä tai pisteenä, aspektina, joka ansaitsee edelleen lisää tutkimista, edelleen kehittämistä ja uutta ajattelua.
