TAVOITTEET JA FUNKTIOT: PUHUJAN INTENTION TULKINNASTA
Abstrakti
Kielen tavoitteellisen funktion selittäminen vaatii, että mielen sisältöä koskevat
perusprosessit otetaan huomioon, jos kielimoduulin oletetaan toimivan yhdessä
primaareimman kognitiivisen tason kanssa. Intention kognitio- ja kielifilosofiset
määrittelyt keskittyvät nykyään eritasoisiin psykologisiin ilmiöihin. Intentiota on
nähty jopa heikosti tiedostetuissa mielen sisällökkyyden kokemuksissa. Toisaalta
intentioksi kutsutaan usein pelkästään tietoisesti asetettujen tavoitteiden
toteuttamista. yhteistä kognitiivisen tavoitteisuuden monimuotoiselle psykologialIe
on, että mentaalit prosessit tähtäävät mielen sopusointuisiin, konsistentteihin
tiloihin. Mm. Harmanin tarkoittamat funktioroolit toimivat mentaalin
representaation muodostamisen hyväksi, kun mieli havaitsee niihin sopivia
asiain tiloja. Käsitteisen integraation aikana käsitteistäjä sulauttaa sisältösyötteet
vahvaksi sulautteeksi (blendiksiJ, jos kokee kaikki käsitteistämisprosessiin
vaikuttavat kognitiot yhteensopiviksi. Edellä mainittujen psykologisten
kognitiivisten prosessien haitaton sujuminen luo mieleen tyytyväisyyttä ja
koherenssia, joka siirtyy myös kieleen. Kognitiivisen tason tyytyväisyys on kielen
tavoitteisen funktion ensisijainen kohde. Siksi tyytyväisyyden ja koherenssin
arviointiin pitäisi kehittää uusia entistä pätevämpiä välineitä.

Ifwe assume that the language module cooperates with the primary cognitive level of
the mind, the expIanation of the intentional function ofIanguage demands that we take
notice of the basic content-dependent processes. The present cognitive and philosophical
definitions of intention focus on diverse Ievels of psychological phenomena. A form
of intentionality is detected even in the scarcely conscious experiences of having some
kind of mental content. On the other hand, intention is quite often considered nothing
more than the fulfilment of consciousIy determined goals. It is common to the components
of the multiform psychological system that mental processes intend ta the
harmonic, consistent states of mind. For exampIe, the functional roIes in the sense of
the conception developed by Harman act for the benefit of the forming of mental
representations when the mind is occupied by some fining states ofaffairs. And further:
a blend develops from the suitabIe and acceptable cognitions during the conceptual
integration process. The feeling - or conviction - of satisfaction is thus the prime object
of the intentional function of cognition and Ianguage. We should develop new effective
tools for the estimation of the multiIevel satisfaction and coherence of the mind.
