Abstrakti

After the New Left disintegrated in 1969, it was mainly subsumedinto different brands of Leninism. In Finland, the main successor of the New Left was the Taistoite movement, that is the Pro-Soviet minority fraction of the Communist Party. How come? This is the theme of the author’s research, of which this article is the first chapter. The emergence of the first Young Leninist groups in 1967 is examined as well as the crisis of traditional working-class culture, which broke the back of the official Communist Youth League. This is narrative history based on original private and public documents and oral sources.
