Evolutiivinen selitys kansainvälisille kehityseroille
Abstrakti
Global inequalities in human conditions and welfare are enormous and they persist despite all efforts to end poverty and to decrease global differences. Social scientists have not yet invented any satisfactory and testable theoretical explanation for global inequalities. It will be argued in this article that inequalities in global conditions and welfare can be traced to evolved human diversity measured by national IQ. The hypothesis is tested by empirical evidence on the index of global inequalities, which index combines six indicators of per capita income, literacy, tertiary enrollment ratio, child mortality, life expectancy, and democratization. The study covers 187 contemporary countries. The results show that national IQ explains 65 percent of the variation in the index of global inequalities. This means that significant global inequalities in human conditions will most probably continue indefinitely. We should learn to accept the fact that global inequalities in human conditions reflect the evolved diversity of life.Lataukset
