About the Journal
Research in Arts and Education (former Synnyt/Origins: Finnish Studies in Art Education) is an international double-blind peer-reviewed journal.
The thematic scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to, the questions of art & design practice and production, criticism, pedagogy, curriculum and instruction. The journal welcomes all arts disciplines: visual arts, music, dance and other performative arts, their theories, practices and education.
Research in Arts and Education grants open access to all publications and is ranked in the publication forum of Finnish academic research. The journal also welcomes submissions from different fields, including, among others, anthropology, art history, aesthetics, cultural studies, sociology, psychology and philosophy.
Currently Research in Arts and Education accepts submissions only through thematic calls published on the journal website. If you are interested in proposing a thematic issue for the journal, please contact the editor-in-chief Juuso Tervo.
The journal's publisher is Aalto University, School of Arts, Design and Architecture, Department of Art and Media.
Research in Arts and Education is a fully open-access journal that publishes articles with a license allowing archiving and sharing of articles with no embargo.
