Abstract

This article focuses on the work of Thomas Parke Hughes. Hughes worked with the history of technology over five decades and his research has shaped the field significantly. On this occasion Hughes´s career is examined through his research, and also the topical scholarly discussions of the period are considered that shaped his thinking.
