Abstract

Participating in the Baltic Connections 2023 conference in Helsinki provided an opportunity to examine the links between the history of technology and social science history. In my report, I reflect on the main themes of the conference, in particular the differences between historiography and methodology, and historical-philosophical realism. I argue that the history of technology should strive towards social-historical realism and build stronger links with other schools of history.
