Abstract

The author gives a short review of the main aspects of the agricultural meteorology as outlined by the International Commission for Agricultural Meteorology. He explaines briefly the researches made by scientists on this field in Finland during several generations. Following works are to be mentioned; 1). Relation between crop and climatic factors, studied by Lemström, Johansson, Cajander, Keränen, Lunelund, Hustich, Väre, Pohjakallio and Kaitera. 2). Nightfrost and the way of preventing it, studied by Hällström, Lemström, Kihlman, Jurva, Laine Multamäki, Meinander and Franssila. 3). Miroclima, studied by Homén, Franssila and Rossi. 4). Earth temperature and soil freezing, studied by Johansson, Homén, Keränen, Simola, Vesikivi, Kokkonen and Juusela. 5) Evaporation and water economy, studied by Homén, Blomqvist, Renqvist, Kaitera, Siren, Väre Valmari and Kanervo. 6). Radiation conditions, studied by Homén, Lunelund, Keränen and Franssila. 7). Snow cover, studied by Korhonen, Keränen, Kaitera and Lavila, 8). Carbon oxide of the air, studied by Buch. The bibliography contains the most significient publications.
