Abstract

In connection with granting state contribution to Milk-Recording Societies, it has been necessary to get some information as to the cost caused by milk recording. This has been done now for two years. The material represents about 97 % of all the redording societies in the country. Table 1 and 2 give the average cost per recording district and per cow within the areas of different Agricultural Advisory Societies and in whole country. In these years the cost per cow was on the average equal to the price of 35.6 and 44.9 kg of milk, thus being 1.1 and 1.4 % of the selling price of the milk produced by these cows. The contribution given by the state was about 45 % of this cost. Thus the average cost paid by cattle owners per cow during these years was only equal to the price of 18.5 and 24.9 kg of milk, being 0.6 and 0.8 % of the selling price of the milk produced by these cows. Table 3 and 4 give the average number of cow in different recording districts and recording herds.
