Abstract

Professor Rurik Jonatan Pihkala, Ph.D., honorary member of the Scientific Agricultural Society of Finland, died in Tampere at an age of 88 years on November 11th, 1973. Dr Pihkala was Professor in Agricultural Economics at Helsinki University 1932-1948. In his obituary Prof. Antti Mäki outlines the curriculum vitae of Prof. Pihkala and gives a summary of his scientific research and his educational work at Helsinki University.
