The subject of this article is visual, intergenerational school route narratives produced through a dialogue-based drawing process. Using the drawings and associated texts, I explore the remembered school routes in which the element of water and water landscape appears in some form. The focus is on the bodily experience of place and its verbal and visual narratives. The material was produced by eight student teachers together with their parents or grandparents as part of their studies in the spring of 2022. The method of interpretation is visual cultural analysis. The main water elements remembered were rivers. The bridges in particular evoked memories of body movement and social and emotional experiences. The younger generation appreciated the process of dialogue-based drawing and stories they had never heard.
