Abstract

This paper discusses the history of the Finnish University Network for Tourism Studies (FUNTS). FUNTS began tourism higher education as a university collaboration in 1994. Changes to the University Act (558/2009) and intensified competition among universities led to the discontinuation of its operations a few years ago. However, the FUNTS has played a significant role in the development of tourism higher education and research in Finland.
