Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine whether voting can be explained as a rational action. The paper examines voting in risky situations and finds it problematic. Under uncertainty it is possible to think of voting (with certain reservations) as a rational choise. Another stance is to ignore, in specific respects, the voting costs. 1
