Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyse the constitutional reform proposals presented by Finnish political parties since the 1970s and to find out what the reform proposals are which seem to have the support of at least 2/3 of the Finnish Parliament. It was found that the left-wing parties have changed their points of view in some significant issues in the 1980s. It was concluded that a sufficient majority seems to agree only on a few reforms, of which the most important concerns the system of presidential elections. The parties agree to change presidential elections into the direction of a more direct popular vote.
