Hallinnon tutkimus politiikan tutkimuksessa: Modernismista ja postmodernismista postoksidentalismiin

Abstract

The author expounds a relativistic view of the common divisions of political science and the increasing differentiation within administrative research. He also criticises the proclaimed methodological and theoretical autonomy and the typical, but outdated, »ethnic» limitations of administrative research. The author ascribes a significant heuristic value to such »postmodern» approaches to administration as structuralism and semiotics. He also acknowledges the value of careful rereadings of the classics from Hegel and Marx to Jellinek, Weber, and Roethlisberger and Dickson, and he discusses the current needs of administrative research for novel research methods and techniques. He concludes with a consideration of the responsibilities of administrative research for research results, for the production of academic degrees, and for the proliferation of research- based information in society.
