Naisten Vuoksi -verkosto ja politiikan muutos - pelinavaus uuteen poliittiseen kulttuuriin
Abstract
The aim of the study is to analyse the political profiling of a women’s network called Naisten Vuoksi founded in 1996. The study is based on five theme interviews with members of Naisten Vuoksi. The four themes build up a framework in which the views of interviewees are studied in detail. The first theme deals with the concept of ”political” and considers what the network means by the slogan personal is political. Secondly, the network’s critique against the globalized market economy is studied in detail. The third theme contemplates Naisten Vuoksi as a new political women’s movement. The fourth theme focuses on gender in politics. Naisten Vuoksi is committed to promoting alternative views on politics by focusing on a critique against economic politics. It is argued in the network that the economic system has taken precedence over the political system and therefore limits the use of political means and decision-making in the society. Instead, the network strives to revive the idea of political activity as an activity present in societal connections including economic actions. Economic politics is also a question of gender. The interviewees think of Naisten Vuoksi as a part of a women’s movement, although not fully identifying with it. The Naisten Vuoksi network is considered to represent a new political actor different from party organizations and social movements.Nedladdningar
