About the Journal

Auraica is an annual interdisciplinary journal for studies relating to Henrik Gabriel Porthan and the Royal Academy of Turku (1640–1827) that also welcomes other topics associated with cultural history or the history of science and ideas between the 17th and 19th centuries.  The journal is published by the Porthan Society.

Auraica is a peer-reviewed and open access online publication. In the Finnish Publication Forum rating, it is classified as JUFO 1.

Auraica has its own section for peer-reviewed articles that are marked with a peer-review label, a trademark registered by the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies. The peer-reviewing process and its documentation follows the requirements for the use of the label (https://www.tsv.fi/en/services/label-for-peer-reviewed-scholarly-publications/requirements-for-use). The journal restores the key review information and documents related to the manuscripts accepted for the review process. Information will not be handed over to external parties.

In Auraica, we are committed to promoting the principles of the guidelines for a peer-reviewing process provided by the Finnish Association for Scholarly Publishing, and (RCR), and for handling allegations of misconduct (the RCR guidelines) published by the Finnish National Board on Research Integrity TENK.
