During the last decades Estonian political decision makers have very actively ‘imagined’ Estonia as part of the Nordics. The article uses politics of belonging as a framework to analyse how three presidents of Estonia construct Estonia and the Nordics in their speeches from 1992 until 2016. The results of this longitudinal analysis show that multiple meanings are formed in this politics of belonging. Estonia is mapped to belong to Nordics as well as to situate at the border or next to the Nordics. Additionally, the speeches reframe and widen the Nordic region by visioning dynamic Nordic-Baltic entity.
