Abstract

I examine the attitudes of youth workers towards changing their profession in Finland during the 2020s, based on a survey conducted among youth workers. In the analysis of the survey data, I utilize the Chaos Theory of Careers, which helps in interpreting complex transitions within careers. According to the survey, several factors drive individuals to contemplate transitioning to different fields. These factors include low pay, excessive workload, increasing diversity of tasks, declining well-being among youth, and the structural challenges inherent in the position of youth work. Concurrently, the comprehensive education provided within the field opens up possibilities for professional mobility.
