From teacher training to development of teaching
Premises of a project
Abstract
Several studies have shown that it is almost an impossible task to change teaching practices. This article criticizes traditional teacher training and it lays down in part foundations for teacher-based development of teaching. Prerequisites for the development of teachers’ work include the breaking down of routines formed over the years, critical reflection, and the inclusion of concrete action in experimental approaches. As an example of teacher-based development of teaching, a project dealing with developing the quality of teaching is being carried out at eight Adult Education Centres.
